Let's put it this way: The MIDI1 is not what it may seem at first glance ... 😉
Thanks to the smallest components, we have succeeded in integrating a complete MIDI interface on a mini circuit board into the metal sleeve of the 5-pin DIN connector of the MIDI1. The MIDI1 is by no means a simple TRS-MIDI Type A cable with a 5-pin DIN plug and a jack plug.
In addition to the optocouplers of the MIDI interface, a resistor is installed on the mini-circuit board, which causes the multi-function foot switch socket of the AMP1 socket to switch to MIDI reception, when the MIDI1 is plugged in.
The 5-pin connector of the MIDI1 is, in contrast to most MIDI connectors, made of metal and as well as unbreakable.
As you can see, the MIDI1 is anything but an expensive MIDI cable with two regular plugs that you might as well build yourself. Rather, what you get here is a miniature MIDI interface built into high-quality hardware components that, thanks to the intelligent design of the AMP1 foot switch socket, provides you with real added value for comparatively little money.
