What makes the Homeplate Guitar Picks so special?
"Homeplate picks" were best known in the UK guitar scene in the 1960s and 1970s and were used by guitarists such as Ritchie Blackmore and The Beatles. At that time, they were still made from real tortoiseshell, and they created a timbre with elegant, silvery highs and present mids, and delivered a wonderfully balanced sound. The shape was also special, as the flat angle made the pick have more contact with the guitar strings. With a material thickness of 1.5 mm, the tone simply sounded fatter than with conventional picks of the same material thickness.
After the picks were no longer available, Thomas Blug began experimenting with clones made from a wide variety of materials. After countless attempts, he finally found a special plastic that matched his sound ideas. Finally, he had the legendary sound of his "Homeplate Picks" from Schildplatt again!
