The Custom Controls of the AMP1 Mercury Edition
All channels of the AMP1 Mercury Edition - with the exception of the pure Vintage overdrive channel - have infinitely variable sound filters with which each channel can be individually tuned in character. In addition, there is a controller for the individual volume of the channel. The following generally applies to the TONE controls: turned down controls offer more "fullness" for single coil guitars, while turned up controls more "bite and air" for guitars with humbuckers.
BOOST
The boost switches a 2-stage tube simulation in front of the channels of the AMP1. With the Custom Control Boost controller, the character can be regulated from transparent to creamy with "self-distortion". Depending on the channel, this enables even more transparent, creamier or more brutal sounds. With stronger pickups with high output, there is a slight overdrive from about half the boost, which makes the tone singing and creamy with OVERDRIVE. If, on the other hand, you want ultra-brilliant and pure clean sounds, it is advisable to only turn the control up half way.
DeleteMODERN TONE
With the MODERN TONE cranked up, the MODERN channel delivers a ruthless performance for aggressive metal riffs and a direct response when in drop tunings. With the MODERN TONE turned down, this channel is an interesting alternative for guitarists looking for an ultra-fat, creamy lead tone.
DeleteCLASSIC TONE
The CUSTOM CONTROL CLASSIC TONE shapes the character of the channel in the overtones and bass. Turn it down for woody and creamy 70s tones, and crank it up for a hard, cutting modern tone with more bite.
DeleteCLEAN TONE
CLEAN TONE enables both silky-warm (turned down) and more brilliant, sparkling, high-pitched (turned up) clean tones for single coils and humbuckers.
