What is INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN, and how does it work?
INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN is available for the AMP1 Mercury Edition and AMP1 Iridium Edition. With the help of the REMOTE1, you can set an individual maximum gain value for each channel of the AMP1, which then remains stored in the AMP1 after removing the REMOTE1 and can be called up via LOW GAIN MODE. INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN can also be programmed using MIDI. However, this option is only available for the AMP1 Iridium Edition.
INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN with REMOTE1
To reduce the gain individually for each channel, first connect the REMOTE1 to the AMP1. Then select a channel on the REMOTE1 and set the desired maximum gain for this channel as follows: press and hold BOOST on the REMOTE1 until the switch starts flashing. Now you can set the desired maximum gain with the rotary knob of the REMOTE1. To store this value in AMP1, hold down the middle foot switch [BOOST] on AMP1 for three seconds and then (while the middle foot switch remains held down!) confirm with the right foot switch. If necessary, repeat this procedure for one or more of the other channels.
In order to apply these individual gain settings per channel, you now have to switch the AMP1 to LOW GAIN MODE. Thomas Blug explains this feature more in the following video:
INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN via MIDI
The AMP1 Iridium Edition also allows you to program individual gain values per channel using MIDI:
If a MIDI controller is connected to the AMP1 via the MIDI1 adapter, use the AMP1's channel selection switch to select the channel you want to store the gain value for. Now you can send the desired gain value via CC 020. To store this value in the AMP1, press and hold the AMP1's right foot switch [REVERB] for three seconds and then (while the right foot switch remains held down!) confirm with the middle foot switch [BOOST]. Repeat this procedure for one or more of the other channels if necessary.
Info
With the AMP1 Mercury Edition, storing INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN via MIDI is not possible because pressing and holding the BOOST switch, which would be necessary to store the INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN value, is already occupied by the MIDI LEARN function.
Only with the release of the AMP1 Iridium Edition the software was changed so that the REVERB switch can be used for programming INDIVIDUAL CHANNEL GAIN.
