Controls - Front Side

  1. FLAP
Tapping on the flap opens it and provides access to the AMP X controls. When the flap is opened, the EQ 28-31 from the master EQ, which affects all sounds, switches to the PRESET EQ.
  2. HEADPHONE OUT (⅛” / 3.5mm Jack)
A stereo headphone can be connected here. The HEADPHONE OUT has the same speaker simulation as the MAIN OUT. For pure headphone operation, simply do not connect a speaker. You can adjust the headphone volume with the X-CONTROL (5) when the AMP X is in preset mode.
  3. AUX IN (⅛” / 3.5mm Jack)
A playback device can be connected here. The signal is sent directly to all outputs and mixed with the guitar (preamp) signal. The volume (in relation to the guitar signal) must be set on the playback device.
  4. GIT IN
Here, the sensitivity of the guitar input can be adjusted for different guitars/pickups, globally tuning all sounds to one guitar without having to adjust each preset individually. This is particularly important in a live situation when switching to another guitar. It is best to save the perfect setting in each preset so that this control is in the middle position. The center detent helps with this. Then, when switching guitars, the level can quickly be raised or lowered across all presets.
  5. X-CONTROL
  6. X-CONTROL
  7. X-CONTROL
  8. X-CONTROL
These controls allow direct access to all parameters of the selected pedal, allowing it to be operated directly. Additionally, the X-Controls are assigned with special functions of the individual amps. Depending on the effect and amp, these parameters include TIME, FEEDBACK, TONE, VOLUME, DRIVE, SHAPE, COMP, GATE, MODE, MIX.
  9. POWERDRIVE
Powerdrive controls the saturation of the power stage with sag, compression, and distortion effects, depending on the selected AMP model.
  10. PEDAL
For selecting and editing the preceding effects. By pressing multiple times, you can scroll through all preceding effects. In each category, only one effect can be activated. All are fully analog or use an analog direct signal mixed with the effect signal. The individual categories are: INPUT / GATE, WAH, BOOST, DRIVE, SPECIAL (for future special digital effects), MODULATION, DELAY, REVERB.
  11. AMP
For selecting and editing amplifier models. By pressing this button multiple times, you can directly scroll through the 4 categories: CLEAN, VINTAGE, CLASSIC, and MODERN. The BlugPrint in the first position of each category is accessed using the rotary switch (23), providing direct access to your 4 favorite amplifiers.
  12. FX
For selecting and editing the post-amp effects (mono/stereo). By pressing multiple times, it scrolls through the external effect path MODULATION, DELAY, and REVERB.
  13. CAB
For selecting and editing speaker simulations (DYNAMIC IRs) on the various outputs. By pressing multiple times, you scroll to the main output, the LINE output, and the SPEAKER output (power amp output of the AMPX). There are 2 IRs for the stereo MAIN output, 2 IRs for the stereo LINE output, and 1 IR for the speaker output in case a full-range speaker is connected or to enable special cabinet adjustments. With the PUSH-DIAL knob (16), different cabinet types can be selected. By pressing the PUSH DIAL multiple times, you can select the left and right side for the stereo outputs MAIN and LINE. The X-CONTROL knob (7) MIC POSITION controls the sound of the microphone position in the speaker simulation. “Rolled up” as if the signal were picked up closer to the center (sharp, direct, bright), or “Rolled down” at the edge of the speaker (warm, round, bass-heavy). Above the center position, peaks become amplified as if the microphone were closer to the center of the speaker's dome. Below the center position, the sound becomes warmer, as if the microphone were moved towards the edge of the speaker.
The X-CONTROL knob “Dynamic” adjusts the dynamic behavior that is added to the IR calculation. Thanks to our self-developed algorithm, all loadable IRs in the AMPX can be provided with this. No dynamic processing is activated for left-cut. The further the knob (xxx) is turned, the more pronounced the function becomes. A precise level adjustment is required to find the sweet spot for maximum dynamics. In addition to the internal IRs, WAV format IRs at 48 kHz can be loaded via the USB X-stick.
  14. DISPLAY
Displays BANK and PRESET numbers, names - and in some menus the control parameters and pictograms or option selections.
  15. HOME / BACK
Button to return to HOME/preset and to navigate back in the display. By pressing and holding, you can access the system menu.
  16. PUSH-DIAL
    For setting and selecting parameters.
  17. LEARN
Button for saving selected parameters. By pressing and holding, you enter the (footswitch) assign menu to assign footswitches with special functions.
  18. USB
For uploading sounds as well as recording audio files. Use the included USB-C stick. The USB Type-C port only accepts sticks with the following specifications: USB C. Use the USB stick for backups of SOUNDS or to upload new software, BlugPrints, and IRs. The provided cable is for connecting for operating system updates. More information can be found in the section on Updates, Backups, and Sound Exchanges.
  19. NANOTUBE
Maintenance-free, extremely durable, and low-noise sub-miniature tube. Insensitive to vibration.
  20. MODERN
  21. CLASSIC
  22. VINTAGE
  23. CLEAN
Indicates the active amplifier category. You can assign any amplifier of your choice to each category.
  24. FAVORITE-AMP-SWITCH
Amp category selector switch. This allows you to quickly swap the AMP in a preset without changing the effects. There are 4 different amplifier categories to choose from: MODERN (20), CLASSIC (21), VINTAGE (22), and CLEAN (23). Different amplifier types within the category can be selected and saved to presets using the PUSH-DIAL (16). The first position in the amplifier type category is always ready to be accessed at the FAVORITE-AMP-SWITCH (24).
  25. DRIVE
For activating and deactivating pedals such as overdrive, distortion, and fuzz pedals. Various drive pedals are available via the PUSH-DIAL (16). Their respective parameters are individually adjusted using the X Controls (5-8).
  26. BOOST
For turning on/off pedals such as compressors, boosters, and low-gain overdrive pedals. Various boost pedals are available via the PUSH-DIAL (16) and are individually adjusted using the X-Controls (5-8).
  27. GAIN
The GAIN knob controls the degree of distortion on the overdrive channels and covers a wide range. For CLEAN sounds, Gain adjusts the saturation of the amplifier, similar to the volume knob on classic Fender amps.
  28. VOLUME
Controls the volume for each preset. The overall volume of all presets is controlled by the MASTER VOLUME (36).
  29. BASS
With the flap open (1): Adjusts the bass content of the selected and active amp.
With the flap closed (1): The knob becomes the master bass control. It then adjusts the bass content of all presets in a downstream post-EQ.
  30. MIDDLE
With the flap open (1): Adjusts the midrange content of the selected and active amp.
With the flap closed (1): The knob becomes the master midrange control. It then adjusts the midrange content of all presets in a downstream post-EQ.
  31. TREBLE
With the flap open (1): Adjusts the treble content of the selected and active amp.
With the flap closed (1): The knob becomes the master treble control. It then adjusts the treble content of all presets in a downstream post-EQ.
  32. PRESENCE
With the flap open (1): Adjusts the presence content of the selected and active amp.
With the flap closed (1), the knob is inactive.
  33. MODULATION
Here, the modulation effect stored in the SOUND can be turned on/off. The active modulation effect is displayed in the DISPLAY (14) under the FLAP (1) and can be adjusted with the X-CONTROLS.
  34. DELAY
Here, the delay effect stored in presets can be turned on/off. The active delay is displayed in the DISPLAY (14) under the FLAP (1) and can be adjusted with the X-CONTROLS.
  35. REVERB
Controls the volume of the reverb effect stored in the preset. The active reverb is displayed in the DISPLAY (14) and can be adjusted with the X-CONTROLS.
  36. MASTER
Determines the overall volume at the speaker output.
  37. CONTROL LIGHT
Lights up when the device is switched on. It can change color and brightness when utilized by a function.
  38. POWER SWITCH
Turns the operating voltage on and thus powers up the AMP X. Note that the NANOTUBE only produces a signal after about 6 seconds once it reaches the operating temperature.
  39. FOOTSWITCH
  40. FOOTSWITCH
  41. FOOTSWITCH
  42. FOOTSWITCH
  43. FOOTSWITCH
  44. FOOTSWITCH
Here, presets and special functions are saved and recalled. Each footswitch can access 2 presets. A quick tap recalls the first preset of the respective footswitch, which will then light up BLUE (factory setting). By pressing the respective footswitch again, the sound of the second preset is recalled, which will then light up PURPLE (factory setting). Each footswitch is freely programmable and can alternatively be assigned with special functions, besides presets.

Explanation: Studio- and Live-Mode

When the flap (1) is closed, the knobs BASS (29), MIDDLE (30), and TREBLE (31) no longer affect the individual AMP but act as a post-EQ, functioning as a MASTER EQ for all presets = Live Mode. This allows all presets to be quickly adjusted to different situations during live performances, for example. When all knobs are in the center position, the equalizer is tonally neutral.
