Rear Connections

45) POWER SOCKET
A modern switch-mode power supply provides constant operating voltages internally, regardless of the voltage in the mains. This means the AMPX delivers exactly the same sound and power worldwide without additional adjustments. You only need a power cord with the local mains plug. The internal universal power supply accepts 100 - 240V AC @ 50/60Hz.
WARNING: If the impedance of the connected speaker is lower than that of the output, this will trigger the overload protection circuit of the power amp at very high volumes, resulting in brief sound dropouts.

46) SPEAKER OUT
Speaker Out 16 Ohm / 100W
If you want to operate two cabinets with 16 Ohms each, they can be connected simultaneously to the two speaker sockets (46) and (47).

47) SPEAKER OUT
Speaker Out 8 Ohm / 100W
The impedance of both output sockets can be changed in the system menu for other scenarios.

48) FAN
The regulated fan activates under heavier load. The openings must remain clear to ensure the AMPX is always properly cooled.

49) MAIN OUT L
50) MAIN OUT R
Outputs for connection to a mixing console. Both recording OUT connections use XLR sockets.

XLR (Balanced)

Provides transformer-balanced microphone level and should be treated like a microphone. Additionally, these two outputs are equipped with a mute circuit, allowing you to safely turn the AMPX on and off without hearing an annoying pop sound through the PA system.

51) MIDI OUT
Here, MIDI devices can be connected to the AMPX. MIDI Program Changes can be sent from the AMPX to MIDI devices, allowing presets to be switched on the AMPX or on external MIDI devices (e.g., effects). Individual effect parameters can be controlled using MIDI Control Changes.

52) MIDI1 / REMOTE
You can connect four different devices to this socket to control the AMPX:

  1. Single- and Double-Footswitches (from other manufacturers).
The AMPX requires switches, such as channel switches from tube amplifiers, that either permanently open or close the electrical contact (latching). These switches should not have LEDs, as the AMPX triggers switching based on a voltage drop. Switches without LEDs work every time. Single switches are connected using a mono jack cable (TS), and double switches are connected using a stereo jack cable (TRS). A single footswitch switches between rhythm and solo volume according to a (customizable) factory setting. A double footswitch switches between rhythm and solo volume with one switch, while the second switch turns the delay on or off if a delay is activated in a preset.
  2. REMOTE1 / REMOTE X / REMOTE MINI
The Remote1 connects to this socket using a mono jack cable (guitar cable or speaker cable). This connection transmits both data and powers the REMOTE1 from the AMPX. The future REMOTE-X will provide numerous presets and can simultaneously send MIDI Control Change commands when connecting expression pedals to control the integrated effects in the AMPX. Additionally, it offers options for integrating further effect pedals into the signal chain with the LOOPER KIT.
  3. MIDI1
MIDI1 turns this socket into a MIDI port. This allows any kind of MIDI controller to recall and control the presets of the AMPX. Furthermore, all adjustable functions can be controlled using Control Change commands.
  4. Expression Pedal
With an expression pedal, any adjustable parameters of the AMPX can be controlled. The specific assignments are configured via the assign menu, accessible by long-pressing the LEARN button. Up to two expression pedals can be directly connected to the AMPX through the controller and remote sockets. When using the BluGuitar X-PRESS pedal, it connects to the controller socket. An extension for the BluGuitar X-PRESS pedal allows for the connection of a second pedal and MIDI IN. Thus, the remote socket can be used for a third pedal.

53) LINE OUTPUT
Use this stereo output to connect the AMPX to one or two additional power amplifiers and guitar cabinets for a Wet – DRY or WET – DRY – WET system. Alternatively, use these outputs for special requirements when using in-ear setups.

54) RETURN
55) SEND
After the signal has passed through your amp section, additional mono or stereo effects such as delay, modulation, etc., can be inserted into the effects loop here. This effects loop can be switched for sensitivity from -10dB to +4dB and can also be switched between serial/parallel configurations. Its state can be stored per SOUND. Connect the SEND to the input and the RETURN to the output of your effects unit. For using stereo effects, a TRS cable is required. (Pinout T: left, R: right, S: ground)

Note

1) "Effects pedals" such as overdrives or wah-wahs should traditionally be connected between the guitar and the AMPX. If you want these to be programmable into the signal chain in each SOUND, a pedal switcher or the use of Remote1 or RemoteX in conjunction with the Looper Kit is recommended.

2) For the best possible signal integrity, the AMPX does not have a loop for pre-effects (PEDALS).  SEND (55) & RETURN (54) form a loop after the amp section. The Return (54) can also be used as an alternative INPUT for other preamps, allowing them to be integrated into the AMPX with its switching options instead of the internal amps and effects. However, we believe this may not be necessary... but exceptions confirm the rule...!

56) CONTROLLER
Here, external expression pedals are connected to control wah, volume, or other (effect) parameters.

57) INPUT
Here, the guitar is connected with an instrument cable. The input sensitivity can be switched from 10 kOhm to 2 MegaOhm. Additionally, there is an attenuator to simulate the high capacitance of a coiled cable. When using guitars with active pickup systems, the input level can be optimally adjusted with GIT IN or in the INPUT SENSITIVITY menu.
