Can the REMOTE1 also be used as a MIDI controller for other devices apart from the AMP1?
The desire to use the robust and roadworthy REMOTE1 separately from the AMP1 as a MIDI controller for other devices is understandable. Unfortunately, however, this is not possible due to the power supply of the REMOTE1.
The REMOTE1 sends (fixed) PC commands to the MIDI-Out socket on MIDI channel 2 and can basically control external MIDI devices. However, the REMOTE1 is supplied with power via a guitar cable coming from from the AMP1.
Since the REMOTE1 is a dedicated foot switch for the AMP1, the power supply of the REMOTE1 was deliberately designed so that it works in conjunction with the AMP1 without an external power supply unit and even without an additional cable. You only need a single standard jack cable for data transfer to the AMP1 as well as for the power supply.
For the above application scenario, however, this means that an AMP1 is required as the power supply of the REMOTE1. Therefore, it is unfortunately not possible to use the REMOTE1 as a MIDI controller without the AMP1 to control other devices.
